چکیده
Abstract The DNA binding with one finger (Dof) proteins are plant-specific transcription factors involved in a variety of biological processes. However, little is known about their functions fruit ripening, flowering-plant-specific process that required for seed maturation and dispersal. Here, we found the tomato Dof factor SlDof1, necessary normal ripening. Knockdown SlDof1 expression by RNA interference delayed ripening-related processes, including lycopene synthesis ethylene production. Transcriptome profiling indicated influences hundreds genes, chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing revealed large number sites. A total 312 genes were identified as direct targets among which 162 negatively regulated 150 positively regulated. target metabolic pathways, follow-up analyses verified directly regulates some well-known ACS2 PG2A well transcriptional repressor such SlIAA27 . Our findings provide insights into regulatory networks underlying ripening highlight gene potentially useful genetic engineering to control

Virus-induced gene complementation reveals a transcription factor network in modulation of tomato fruit ripening
Plant virus technology, in particular virus-induced gene silencing, is a widely used reverse- and forward-genetics tool in plant functional genomics. However the potential of virus technology to express genes to induce phenotypes or to complement mutants in order to understand the function of plant genes is not well documented. Here we exploit Potato virus X as a tool for virus-induced gene com...
متن کاملEffect of salinity on tomato fruit ripening.
Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill) plants from various cultivars growing on half-strength Hoagland solution were exposed at anthesis to 3 or 6 grams per liter NaCl. Salinity shortened the time of fruit development by 4 to 15%. Fruits of salt-treated plants were smaller and tasted better than did fruits of control plants. This result was obtained both for ripe fruits tested on the day of pick...
متن کاملThe role of alternative oxidase in tomato fruit ripening and its regulatory interaction with ethylene
Although the alternative oxidase (AOX) has been proposed to play a role in fruit development, the function of AOX in fruit ripening is unclear. To gain further insight into the role of AOX in tomato fruit ripening, transgenic tomato plants 35S-AOX1a and 35S-AOX-RNAi were generated. Tomato plants with reduced LeAOX levels exhibited retarded ripening; reduced carotenoids, respiration, and ethylen...
متن کاملRegulation of tomato fruit ripening
Fruit ripening is a sophisticatedly orchestrated developmental process, unique to plants, that results in major physiological and metabolic changes, ultimately leading to fruit decay and seed dispersal. Because of their strong impact on fruit nutritional and sensory qualities, the ripeningassociated changes have been a matter of sustained investigation aiming at unravelling the molecular and ge...
متن کاملIn silico Transcriptional Regulatory Networks Involved in Tomato Fruit Ripening
Tomato fruit ripening is a complex developmental programme partly mediated by transcriptional regulatory networks. Several transcription factors (TFs) which are members of gene families such as MADS-box and ERF were shown to play a significant role in ripening through interconnections into an intricate network. The accumulation of large datasets of expression profiles corresponding to different...
